Pulkovo
Founded by the German astronomer Wilhelm Struve in 1836, the Pulkovo Observatory is located near St. Petersburg, the capital of the Russian Empire. With the dedication of an international team of astronomers, observations at Pulkovo proved to be more accurate than those at any other observatory on the planet, including the Greenwich Observatory. Having passed through numerous tragedies after the revolution, the Pulkovo Observatory has now become almost forgotten. To remind the spirit of creativity and openness, I have recreated the theatre costumes of Pulkovo astronomers from an archive photograph taken before the revolution in times of peace.
